Longtime Knoxville radio personality Phil Williams was calling middays at WNOX home in 1978...At year's end WNOX had a great promo, Phil drank on the air to demonstrate the effects of alcohol. He was then driven home and tucked into bed! 101 got an email from Phil, great hearing from you!

Over at WBIR Action 10 News...Bill Williams and Elda Brown were the anchors, Scott Sams did the weather, and Jim Cline sports.

The CMA awards in October '78 awarded Dolly Parton as entertainer of the year, Don Williams won the male entertainer, Crystal Gayle won female honors, and the single of the year was "Heaven's Just a Sin Away" by The Kendalls.

On November 7, Lamar Alexander beat Jake Butcher and became Tennessee's new Governor.
