JACK RYAN RETURNS TO THE KNOXVILLE AIRWAVES ON MERLE 96.7 FM~

Merle 96.7 is pleased to announce the addition of Jack Ryan to the staff of Knoxville’s Merle 96.7. According to station owner Ron Meredith, “We couldn’t be happier to have him at Merle 96.7. Jack Ryan is a class act and we believe he will be very happy here.” 

Ryan will be on the air weekday afternoons 3–7pm beginning Thursday April 12, in addition to other duties around the station. “I feel like a whole new world has opened up for me at Merle FM. The staff has welcomed me warmly. I get to work side-by-side with the owner, and am being encouraged to participate in practically every aspect of this station’s growth. More importantly, East Tennessee is a wonderful place to raise my family and I love the people here. I am blessed at this stage of my life and my career to keep my family here and build a long term future at a radio station poised for growth.” 

Jack Ryan is a native East Tennessean and attended Karns, Farragut, and CAK schools, and graduated from The University of Tennessee in 1997. He has worked at several radio stations across the southeast including WZRR-FM and WVOK in Birmingham, AL. and WYLV-FM, WIMZ-FM and WIVK-FM in Knoxville. He is the 2009 winner of CMA Radio Personality of the Year and was recently nominated for an ACM award. He is a father of two and resides in East Knoxville. 

Merle 96.7 (WMYL FM) is a country music station in Knoxville. It signed on the air in 2007. It is owned by Ron Meredith of Anderson County. Meredith also owns WYSH AM 1380/FM 101.1 in Clinton and WGAP AM 1400 in Maryville. He is a native of LaFollette and has worked for major radio stations across the country before purchasing and operating WYSH in 1990. He is a father of three. Merle 96.7 plays Total Country, a format developed by Meredith. In addition to today’s country, Merle 96.7 plays the country legends, including George Jones, The Oak Ridge Boys, Willie Nelson, and all of the great country artists.
