1974 was an exciting, but changing year at WKGN 1340!

The year began with Smokey Burns as morning DJ, Bob Baron was the PD, Wayne Bernard hosted afternoons, and Dave Young came over from WNOX to work 7p-12...Joe Anderson and Walker Johnson manned the news department.

Fast forward to late March and the exit of Smokey Burns, so WKGN created what they called "The Big Switch" with Wayne Bernard to morning drive, Your Dave taking over afternoons and enter Kent Newton 7p-12!

When summer arrived, all night DJ Jerry Steele said goodbye for KIOA, Baron exited for WCFL in Chicago and Newton landed in Memphis at WHBQ as Tom Kent. On Friday November 22 Wayne Bernard signed off for the final time as he was joining sister station WMAK in Nashville as he became the famous Charlie Chase.

The rest of '74 played out and in early '75 Dr Al Adams returned as morning DJ and Program Director. We dust off the 101 Audio Vault...one morning Your Dave was running a bit late so his side kick Joe Anderson stepped in~
